Hanukkah Fortune Teller

This is a variation on the traditional fortune teller – we’ve given it a Hanukkah makeover and added a slightly different twist.
1. Make your fortune teller. For fortune teller instructions, click here.
2. Decorate the outside four panels with Hanukkah symbols (such as a Hanukkiah, dreidl, latke, gelt)
3. Open your fortune teller so that all four panels are facing down. Then number each half of the 4 folded in triangles (so you’ve written down 8 numbers).
4. Fold back the four triangles. Now, on each half of the 4 folded out triangles, write a Hanukkah trivia question, the answer, and the number of points (1, 2 or 3) that someone will get for answering correctly. Click here for questions, or make up your own. Make sure you write three 3 point questions, three 2 point questions and two 1 point questions, for a total of 8 questions and answers. Easy questions should be assigned a lower point value (1) while harder questions are assigned more points (2 or 3).
Once you’ve completed the above steps, the fortune teller is ready to be used on your friends and family as follows.
Your friend (or brother/sister) will have five tries in total. We’ll use “Friend” in our instructions.
Step 1. Friend chooses a Hanukkah symbol. You open the fortune teller one way and then the other, as you spell out the letters of the symbol (one opening for each letter).
Step 2. Friend chooses a number. You open the fortune teller one way and then the other as you count out the number.
Step 3. Friend chooses another number. You open the flap and read the question to Friend. Friend answers. If the answer is correct, Friend gets the points assigned to a correct answer. If the answer is wrong, Friend gets no points.
You and Friend repeat these steps four more times, adding up the points as you go. Once a question has been answered correctly, it cannot be chosen again.
At the end of the game, tally up the points, then refer to the following chart:
10 points or more: Hanukkah Wizard!!! Your outlook for Hanukkah is very bright. There is lots of chocolate gelt in your future – and the most delicious potato latkes you’ve ever tasted.
7-10 points: Hanukkah Pro. We see a good and happy Hanukkah ahead with some fun games of dreidl and a few jelly donuts.
6 points or less: Hanukkah Pro in training. Outlook for Hanukkah is currently dim, but can be brightened quite easily with a bit of reading about the fabulous Hanukkah story and all the fun stuff that we do on Hanukkah.
